Historic City News readers who live or work west of Ponce de Leon Boulevard will experience reduced water pressure, and possibly discolored water, tomorrow and Wednesday while the City of St Augustine performs fire hydrant maintenance and flushing.
Work is planned along Arapaho Avenue and the area lying north of Arapaho Avenue and south of Oyster Creek along South Dixie Highway and Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Areas where work is being performed will be noticed with signs.
“While the water will be safe to drink and use, it is recommended that cold water faucets be run for five to ten minutes in the event discoloration of water is noticed,” Director of Public Affairs, Paul Williamson told local reporters. “All testing will be conducted between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday January 6th and Wednesday January 7th, depending on emergencies and weather related issues.”
In an announcement this morning, City officials cautioned water customers to check their water quality prior to running laundry.
“If the discolored water does not clear up after running your tap as instructed, or if you have any questions or concerns, you should contact the Public Works Department at 904.825.1040.”
