Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Director James Troiano is asking Historic City News readers to come forward, as you have in the past, to help identify the persons who dumped approximately 18.5 tons of tires in the 800 block of North Old Kings Road.
This crime occurred in an area between Matanzas Woods Parkway and Princess Place Preserve sometime between the evening of August 30th, and the early morning hours of August 31st, according to Troiano.
“Flagler County has a Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, so it is a shame that someone chose to dump these tires here,” Flagler County Administrator Craig Coffey said. “The cost to Flagler County taxpayers to clean up the tires is estimated to be in excess of $4,600.”
Flagler County cleaned up the tires and hauled them to a proper landfill in Volusia County.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Law Enforcement Division are currently investigating this illegal dumping. It is believed the persons responsible used a large trailer to unload the tires at one time and are likely to have been seen.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility is located at 1770 South Old Kings Road, Flagler Beach. Its hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, go to www.flaglercounty.org, or call 386-517-2075.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Deputy Steve Williams at (386) 3134911, or FFWC Officer Eric Mead at 888-4004-FWCC.
