Charlotte Street will undergo archeological excavation

Over the next month, Historic City News readers will find portions of Charlotte Street, south of King Street, will be closed to vehicular traffic to accommodate archaeological work, according to an announcement from the St Augustine Public Works Department.

The work is required prior to the installation of new underground utilities and brick street refurbishment scheduled in 2017.

Portions of the street will be closed Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., for five weeks starting on Monday, January 11th.  The street will remain open for pedestrian and local traffic.

Scheduled closings of Charlotte St. are:

• Cadiz Street to King Street: January 11-14, 18-21, and 25-28
• Bravo Lane to Cadiz Street: February 1-4
• Bridge Street to Bravo Lane: February 8-11
