The City of St Augustine reported to Historic City News that the Jacksonville-based North Florida Bicycle Club will hold its 25th annual Tour de Forts Classic on Sunday, April 24th. Motorist and residents are urged to use extra caution when encountering the ride participants.
About 750 bicyclists will be released on the city streets in groups of thirty riders every minute beginning at 7:30 a.m., leaving from St Augustine High School on Collins Avenue.
The route through the city includes Lewis Speedway, SR-16, San Marco Ave., Avenida Menendez, the Bridge of Lions and Anastasia Blvd., continuing south on State Road A1A to Fort Matanzas.
In addition to the crowd of participants, smaller groups of riders will ride through Lighthouse Park and North Davis Shores on their return along the same route back to the starting point at St. Augustine High School.
