Domestic violence charges brought against two SJSO deputies

Historic City News has learned that two senior St Johns County deputy sheriffs have each resigned their positions after they were charged in separate incidents of domestic violence.

On Saturday August 13 at about 4:40 a.m., 43-year-old Timothy Brian Robertson, a senior traffic deputy and former corporal with 20-years’ service to the sheriff’s office, was arrested and booked into the St Johns County Detention Facility, charged with domestic battery.

Robertson was released five hours later at 9:42 a.m. after posting a $500 bond. He resigned on Monday August 15.

Information filed against 53-year-old Kevin D Nickmeyer Sr by an Assistant State Attorney in Flagler County based on evidence and a sworn complaint filed Friday July 29; alleges one-count of domestic assault and one-count of domestic battery, stemming from an incident that happened in his home on or about December 30, 2015.

Nickmeyer resigned from the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday July 30 after 18-years’ service. He was also a traffic deputy earning $56,506.94 per year plus benefits. A summons was issued from the court, however the Flagler County Sheriff returned the summons unserved Wednesday August 3, stating that Nickmeyer had moved from the Palm Coast address and he could no longer be located.

Nickmeyer’s attorney filed an answer to the charges and a written “not guilty” plea Tuesday August 2. An amended information was filed by the State Attorney on Thursday August 11. An arraignment has been scheduled for September 6 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Melissa Moore Stens.
