Historic City News was informed that 35-year-old Sean Douglas Stern, a former traveling soccer coach with ties in Flagler County and statewide, was arrested Thursday by the US Marshal Service in Tacoma, Washington and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation as an authority figure of a school.
He remains held without bail at the Pierce County Jail in Tacoma.
With the assistance of the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, Stern was located yesterday. Flagler County Sheriff’s Office detectives filed a nationwide warrant October 19th seeking Stern’s arrest.
According to the arrest warrant, Stern is accused of molesting two teenage boys, between 12 and 16-years-old, on multiple occasions at multiple locations within Flagler County between January 2015 and April 2016.
Detectives began investigating Stern in April after he was fired from a Palm Coast soccer school called “Professional Sports Pathways”, which has since closed.
Stern’s last local address was 422 S Central Avenue in Flagler Beach. He left Flagler County in April and eventually moved to his current address in Seattle.
Stern has also coached youth programs at the Player Development Academy, a soccer club in Palm Coast, and at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. He has worked for, or is possibly affiliated with, the following soccer organizations:
• Matanzas High School
• Jacksonville Armada
• FC United
• West Ham International Academy
• Pure FC
He has ties to soccer programs throughout Florida, as well as in Texas and North Carolina.
The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone whose male child participated in soccer programs with Stern to talk to their children and find out whether they have been victimized.
All information about Stern should be provided to Flagler County Sheriff’s Detective Fuentes at (386) 586-4890. Callers can remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at (888) 277-8477 (TIPS).
