Georgia woman arrested at Amphitheater

A 24-year-old woman from Jesup Georgia was arrested at the St Augustine Amphitheater Friday night at approximately 7:00 p.m., after an off-duty police officer observed her feeding beer to her one-year-old son according to an arrest report received by Historic City News this morning.

CSC Security officers contacted Corporal Jonathan Marston to report the activity that was occurring in the pit.

Marston wrote that he “observed a white female handing a plastic cup that appeared to be partially full of beer, to a young child standing at her feet who appeared to be approximately one year of age.”

The woman, identified by her South Carolina driver’s license as Taylor Victoria Woodard, was escorted to the main entrance by officers at the scene.

According to the report, Woodard was “intoxicated and very confrontational”. Marston asked Woodard who the child was, and she said her son. Woodard denied giving the child beer, saying that he “was just taking beer cups that were on the floor”. The one-year old was reportedly conscious and breathing but, according to Marston, “had very glassy eyes”.

The incident report said that Woodard “was in no condition to take care of her child” and she was placed under arrest. Officer Cecilia Aiple, a female officer, searched Woodard and transported her to the St Johns County Detention Facility.

During the search, Aiple found a pack of cigarettes in Woodard’s right front pocket. Upon looking in the pack of cigarettes, Aiple found that one of the cigarettes had been stuffed with approximately .05 grams of marijuana.

The child was evaluated by on-scene medical staff and it was determined he would be transported to Flagler Hospital by St. Johns Fire Rescue for further evaluation. The Department of Children and Families was notified and a case worker was dispatched to assume custody of the child.

Taylor Woodard willingly and knowingly committed an intentional act that could reasonably be expected to result in physical or mental harm of her child by giving her beer from a clear plastic cup. By doing so, she was also providing alcohol to a minor. Furthermore a search of Woodard’s person post arrest revealed less than a gram of marijuana in her right front pocket.

She was charged with child abuse, providing alcohol to a minor, and possession of marijuana; posted $3,500 bond and was released Saturday afternoon.
