Hurricane Update from County Commission meeting

Historic City News was updated by Bill McClure, St Johns County Commissioner for District 3, that during today’s meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, an additional $1 million dollars was approved for local contracts to be awarded for household debris removal following Hurricane Matthew.

In visiting most areas of District 3, I have voiced my top areas of critical need as follows:

• Tradewinds Lane – Tropic area
• Treasure Beach area
• Crescent Beach – Middleton Ave area
• Summerhaven – Barataria Island areas

“I called Red Cross on Thursday and they have staging areas to feed people in each above mentioned areas,” McClure told local reporters. “Mosquito Control will be spraying Wednesday night from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. along the Intracoastal Waterway, so keep your pets indoors.”

The county has extended the Emergency Declaration for another 7 days and FEMA relief will be available to individuals whose loss extends beyond the limits of their own insurance, based on qualifications.
