Historic City News learned of a multi-agency investigation into the manufacture and selling of methamphetamine in St. Johns County today which has resulted in the issue of 67 arrest warrants for 54 suspects. As of today, 45 individuals have been arrested and nine are still being sought.

Agents and detectives learned the manufacturers were utilizing the “One Pot” or “Shake-n-Bake” method producing between five and twenty grams of methamphetamine per manufacturing cycle. Each manufacturer utilized numerous co-conspirators to purchase pseudoephedrine along with other precursor chemicals in exchange for meth as payment.

“Throughout this lengthy investigation there have been approximately 30 methamphetamine manufacturers as well as over 250 co-conspirators who were responsible for obtaining precursor chemicals for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine in St. Johns County,” Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw told local reporters.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit along with the Jacksonville District Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration, initiated an investigation in May of 2015 of methamphetamine that was being manufactured at five residences in St. Johns County, including: 136 Palmer St., 319 Ravenswood Dr., 4685 Avenue D, 6841 Tammy Ln., and 530 Colee St., Lot K.

On July 27th, D.E.A. agents, St. Johns County Detectives, and the North Florida Regional Task Force of the U.S. Marshall Service, began arresting individuals who had outstanding arrest warrants for their involvement in multiple conspiracies related to the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine.  Assisting the law enforcement agencies in this investigation were attorneys with the Office of the State Attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit.
