Letter: Why is Sheriff using office to endorse candidate?

Dear Editor:

I have written to St Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar asking him to please withdraw his political endorsement of Andrea Samuels written on official department letterhead. He has not responded to me to date.

It is one thing exercising your right to endorse whoever you want. I understand that. But it is another thing, and wrong, to use the letterhead of the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office to deliver the campaign message.

I appreciate the great job Sheriff Shoar does for the County, but please make no mistake about the dislike for the job Andrea Samuels has done here in St Augustine Beach.

Andrea Samuels is, in my opinion, the worst elected city official I have ever come across. Her husband is a criminal, in my opinion, that should have been prosecuted for hitting or knocking into that disabled old man at the county pier.

Now there is the current matter of selling and serving alcohol in City Hall in connection with the activities of the Civic Association, which is beyond common sense.
