An opening reception will be held for the latest Art in Public Places exhibit on Tuesday, May 3rd, beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the St Johns County Administration Building located at 500 San Sebastian View.
Historic City News readers are invited to participate just before Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners.
This exhibit is sponsored by the Saint Augustine Camera Club and includes award winning photography from the fifth annual juried member photography show.
Michelle Ganeles won the top prize with her photograph, Disconnected. Second honors went to Joe Campanellie for his weathered tree in Boneyard Beach. Bryon Capo captured third with a detailed shot of an elderly seamstress in Art of Sewing.
Honorable mentions went to MaryJean Campanellie for Orchid Cascade and Michelle Mallard for her reenactment shot, Battle of Monday’s Hollow. The People’s Choice award was won by Henry Bollmann for 312 Bridge – One Mile View.
In the Novice category – first place went to Allison Bennett with Bok Lily, a striking shot of a water lily among the reflections of Bok Tower. Paul Coleman scored second with a moody capture of A Foggy Morning. Third place was awarded to Lenore Gibbons for Naked on the Beach, a photo of a forlorn leafless tree at the water’s edge.
The exhibit will be on display in the Rotunda Gallery from May 3, through June 8, 2016. The St. Johns County Administration Building is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Saint Augustine Camera Club was founded in September 2010. It is dedicated to providing members with educational information and enjoyable activities in the field of photography. The club meets the third Thursday of each month at the Watson Realty Office on US-1 South at 6:00 p.m. The club web site is www.saintaugustinecameraclub.com.
