Man charged in strangulation murder at local motel

The 38-year-old St Johns County man who was identified to Historic City News as a “person of interest” in the murder of 29-year-old Keneshia Cymone Gadson, was arrested yesterday after being questioned by detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.

Deputies responded to a room at the Star Motel on SR-16 shortly after 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night and discovered Gadson’s lifeless body inside. Gadson resided in Lincolnville at 103 Duero Street. Foul play was suspected.

The District Medical Examiner determined that the cause of Death was ligature strangulation and the manner of death was homicide.

Christopher William McCook whose address is 2525 Pellicer Road, was charged with second-degree murder using a deadly weapon and was booked into the St Johns County Detention Facility without bond.

McCook was located yesterday morning at a nearby Denny’s restaurant.

Detectives are continuing the investigation.
