Historic City News has learned that this morning about 3:00 a.m., a 28-year-old Flagler Beach man was killed when he lost control of his 2011 Suzi 750 motorcycle, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Traffic Homicide Investigators say that Nickolas S. Nelson, whose address was reported as 2127 North Oceanshore Boulevard, was traveling northbound on SR-A1A in Flagler County at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve to his left.
Nelson drove off onto the east grassy shoulder and overturned, causing him to be ejected. The motorcycle and driver struck a metal fence and stone post. Nelson came to final rest on the east grassy shoulder.
The driver was wearing a helmet when troopers arrived, however, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology testing during the autopsy will determine if alcohol played a role in the crash.
