Our Native Past: First Peoples, in the Marguerita Phillips Gallery through February 28th, is a glimpse of the sphere of Native American influence in 16th-Century St. Augustine. The exhibit features original artifacts discovered by Archaeologist Carl Halbirt and his team at the St. Augustine Art Association site along with a striking backdrop of fine art tribal portraits by Theodore Morris.
“The items found last summer during our investigation show a vast network and interaction among the Native Americans and the first Europeans,” said Halbirt, who will present a free lecture on his recent findings Thursday, January 21st, at 7:00 p.m. Reservations are required.
The St. Augustine Art Association gallery is open noon to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday and on Sundays 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.staaa.org
