Historic City News was informed by the St Johns County Sheriff that deputies in the Southeast District are investigating and seeking information on an apparent road rage incident that occurred on Dobbs Road yesterday morning after a motorist drove off the roadway to avoid traffic congestion. As the driver attempted to get back into traffic, a white male driving a red Jeep Cherokee blocked his path and exited his car with what was described as a 9” inch long bladed knife. When a passenger in the victim’s car exited, the armed man chased the passenger around the car. As the driver exited, the man slashed the victims tire causing it to deflate. The victims attempted to take a picture of the suspects tag number, however the suspect, who was described as a white male, approx. 6’2” with curly brown hair and was wearing a brown shirt and blue jeans, bent the tag so it was unreadable. Investigators are following up on this case for video that may help identify the suspect. If anyone has any information on this case, please contact the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at 904-824-8304 or remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477 (TIPS).

Deputies originally responded to the victim who stated he parked his truck in the driveway around midnight and realized it was gone the next morning. The owner stated one door would not secure properly and while he had not loaned or approved anyone else to take the vehicle, he did keep a spare key in the unsecured truck. Upon inventory of the vehicle, the owner noticed several items that did not belong to him, including multiple wallets and receipts from Clay County stores dated on the same day of the stolen truck. The investigation is continuing.
Sale of Cocaine Warrant: Deputies in the Southwest District arrested a subject on an open “Sale of Cocaine within 1000 feet of a Church” warrant after he initially resisted arrest and fled on foot from law enforcement. After a brief K-9 track and tips that led deputies to an area home, the suspect surrendered without further incident. He was taken to the SJC Jail, where he is being held on a $100,500 bond.
Drug Paraphernalia Arrest: Northwest District Deputies responded to a gated subdivision entrance that was being blocked by a pickup truck and the driver was not removing the vehicle from the traffic way. The deputy found the driver behind the wheel with his head down on the steering wheel. Upon asking the man for a driver’s license, the man opened his center console where the deputy viewed drug paraphernalia commonly used to smoke narcotics. Upon asking him to step out of the vehicle, the deputy found additional drug paraphernalia and a handgun in the console where the suspect retrieved his driver’s license. The vehicle was towed out of the roadway and the man arrested for drug related charges without further incident.
