Traffic notes for Christmas Parade and Colonial Night Watch

The City of St Augustine reported the following traffic notes to Historic City News this morning.  Tomorrow, Saturday, December 1, two events will necessitate the closing of some streets and implementation of detours in order to accommodate the traffic of an expected busy day in downtown St. Augustine.

The St. Augustine Christmas Parade


  • Start: 9:00am, Finish: 11:30am (approximately).
  • Parade route: From the Mission Nombre de Dios, south onSan Marco Ave., S. Castillo Dr./Avenida Menendez, west on Cathedral Pl. northon Cordova St. to Orange St. where it will disband.
  • Traffic notes: Starting at 8:15am, traffic will beprohibited on San Marco Ave. south of May St., S. Castillo Dr./AvenidaMenendez, Cathedral Pl. and Cordova St. north of King St.

The Colonial Night Watch

  • Start: 7:00pm, Finish: 8:00pm (approximately).
  • Parade route (walking): from Castillo de San MarcosNational Monument, the procession moves to the City Gate, then south on St.George St. to the Governor’s House.
  • Traffic on Avenida Menendez in the vicinity of the Castillo de San Marcos will be halted briefly to allow the procession to crossover to the City Gate. St. George St. adjacent to the Governor’s House will be closed as will Cathedral Pl. as needed to accommodate the procession and pedestrians.
