The Saint Augustine Civitan Club informed Historic City News that they will host the next monthly business meeting and luncheon at Denny’s located at 2455 State Road 16 in St. Augustine on February 24th, 2011.
“There is no charge for attending the meeting — just pay for the cost of your meal,” said Civitan spokesperson, Kizzy Van Tine.
Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the program from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
Civitan is proud to have guest speaker Suzanne La Rue Haladyna of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Suzanne is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Suzanne is a wife and mother of two and a cancer survivor who spends her free time supporting the St. John’s community through volunteer work with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
The Relay for Life is the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society held in more than 60000 communities like ours throughout the United States and 20 other countries.
Relay is an 18 hour celebration which gives the community a chance to come together as one in the fight against cancer.
The event on May 14th will mark the 15th year for Relay for Life in St. Augustine.
Local Civitan clubs meet a wide variety of needs in their communities, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.
The Civitan International Foundation continues this mission with a $20 million dollar commitment to its flagship project, the Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
