Become an Energy Efficiency Ambassador

Thanks to a grant from the Florida Energy and Climate Commission, Historic City News readers can participate in a free series of energy-efficiency workshops held at the University of Florida IFAS Extension office, located at 3111 Agricultural Center Drive in St. Augustine.

The group of five workshops, which focus on energy efficient building techniques, will be offered throughout March. Each weekly workshop will be offered from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday to allow for scheduling flexibility.

Energy Efficiency Education Series Schedule

• Energy Efficiency and Building Science – March 1st and 3rd
• Energy Efficiency and Florida Energy Code Compliance – March 8th and 10th
• Energy Efficiency with Building Automation – March 15th and 17th
• Energy Efficient Lighting – March 22nd and 24th
• Solar Thermal Systems – March 29th and 31st

By attending all five workshops, individuals will be recognized as a St. Johns County Energy Efficiency Ambassador and provided a certificate of completion.

The education series is specifically designed to meet the needs of builders, developers and design professionals involved in commercial and residential construction; however, it is open to all St. Johns County residents.

St. Johns County is one of only 15 counties and municipalities in Florida that were awarded this competitive grant. Funding is provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 through the Department of Energy.
