Historic City News was informed that a large volume of police calls, reviewed over the last four months, has the Davis Shores neighborhood “up in arms” and police up before the commission Monday to report on those concerns.
Two Hundred Lounge on Anastasia Boulevard is the latest nightclub to open in the building that was originally J&L Banner grocery store; succeeding “Christophers” and “Auggie Dogs”.
Two Hundred Lounge owner, Bryan Greiner, says that his club offers friends and neighbors a fun, glamorous destination to get together and share nights out, business meetings and parties. On the club’s website, Greiner says, “We’ve been welcomed with open arms in St. Augustine, and we’re thrilled to be here.”
St. Augustine Police Commander Barry Fox would likely deny that claim, saying the night spot has dominated police calls from neighbors in recent months.
Arrests and citations at the club have included battery, illegal drugs, gunshots fired, fights, and overflow parking on neighbor’s property, according to police.
Two Hundred Lounge bills itself as a nightclub with comfortable seating, an upscale interior design and a spacious dance floor. Weekly events include ladies’ night, college night, little black dress night as well as live music on Thursday and Friday nights and a DJ on Saturday nights.
Two Hundred Lounge features a private, members-only club, which patrons can enter via a key-card accessed entrance. The members-only area boasts a private wine cellar and full bottle service; proceeds from the private club will be donated to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.
If you are planning to attend the regularly scheduled Monday night meeting of the St. Augustine City Commission, go to the Alcazar Room; on the first floor of City Hall, located at 75 King Street in St. Augustine. The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m.
