St. Johns County Fire Rescue coordinated with the City of Palatka for their quarterly Special Operations Training, according to a report filed by St. Johns County Administrator, Michael D. Wanchick.
This quarter’s theme focused on high angle and high rise rope rescue scenarios.
Firefighter participants utilized an abandoned “high rise†structure for several applications of high angle rescue and recovery missions.
“This type of training opportunity is vital to the Department†said Wanchick. “Through cooperation with the City of Palatka, the Department’s Special Operations personnel gained invaluable experience that enhances operational readiness for these types of emergencies.â€
