Governor’s race starts today

Posted on 05/11/2009 By Historic City News 1 Comment on Governor’s race starts today

With confidants of Governor Charlie Crist saying over the weekend that the governor plans to announce this week that he’s running for U.S. Senate instead of seeking re-election, the 2010 governor’s race starts today.

Democratic Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink and Republican Attorney General Bill McCollum are among those who today are likely thinking about that race.

They’re the most prominently mentioned candidates for getting into a Crist-less governor’s race.

Because of fundraising, the sooner the better as far as most candidates are concerned and while the election is well over year away, expect a flurry of announcements soon.

If the two Cabinet members get into the race, expect a domino effect as others run for their Cabinet posts.

This time in 2011, the entire Cabinet could have a new makeup.
