Historic City News has learned that as of Friday morning at 11:00, two St. Johns County roadways remain closed due to flooding.
International Golf Parkway – International Golf Parkway is closed to through traffic from North Francis Road to US1. St. Marks Pond Boulevard is open for local traffic from US1. Alternate routes are County Road 210 and State Road 16.
Cowpen Branch Road – Cowpen Branch Road is closed between County Road 13 and State Road 206. Alternative route is taking State Road 206 west to State Road 207, then proceed west to County Road 13.
Roadways previously closed but now re-opened include: Beach Road in Hastings, County Road 13 and County Road 204. Questions about the current status of any roadway may be directed to the Road and Bridge Office at 209-0246.
St. Johns County beaches remain closed to vehicles on Friday, but are expected to re-open on Saturday. Officials will monitor the beaches today and ensure conditions are safe before making a final decision about Saturday.
Free sandbags are being offered until 5:00 pm Friday (extended from noon) at Sims Pit, located at 536 Holmes Boulevard in St. Augustine. Residents are now asked to access it via S. St. Johns Street by following the yellow signs on Holmes Boulevard. The sand and bags are provided, but users must bring their own shovels and fill the bags themselves. The County asks that residents take no more sandbags than needed, not to exceed 100 bags.
