Restoration of the North City Waterworks Building to its original 1883 style as the city’s first train depot was endorsed by the City Commission last night following a report by Architect Dave Mancino.
Mancino designed a restoration as a community hall complete with a catering kitchen. The new design could seat 150 with potential revenue-producing uses such as wedding receptions.
St. Augustine’s Chief Operations Officer John Regan suggested that the estimated $1.2 to $1.8 million project could find support in the transportation stimulus program and through the St. Augustine 450 Federal Commission.
