Truck lands in retention pond after crash
Historic City News has learned that a 48 year-old St. Johns County man has been transported to Shands Hospital Jacksonville by air-ambulance following a single-vehicle collision being investigated by deputies with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit.
Deputies responded to the scene of the crash yesterday that occurred in the 2300 block of Janet Drive in northwest St Johns County.
The victim, Geral Frank Broward of 2334 Marlee Road South, St Johns, was driving a 1999 Ford Silverado Pick-up Truck eastbound on Janet Drive when the vehicle left the roadway and came to rest on the edge of a small retention pond.
Broward was the only occupant of the vehicle, according to the report. No word on whether or not the driver was wearing seatbelts or if alcohol was involved.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
