Property Crimes Unit Detectives are seeking the identity of two individuals in connection with several thefts that recently occurred at Publix Supermarket in Sawgrass Village, and the Sheriff is asking Historic City News readers for their help.
Last Monday, April 18th, as one victim was shopping inside the store, a thief snatched her wallet from the purse that was sitting inside her shopping cart.
Detectives are also investigating four additional reports of thefts that occurred in the parking lot of the store; which is located at 600 Sawgrass Village Drive in Ponte Vedra Beach. In one case, the victim lost her entire purse when it was stolen while she loaded her groceries into the car.
The store has heightened its security and regularly employs video surveillance which captured a man and a woman in the grocery store who detectives say may know more about these crimes.
Anyone with information concerning these thefts is asked to contact Detective Plaugher with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 824-8304. You can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling CrimeStoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
