Historic City News reporters note that today is the 18th Annual celebration of Sense of Smell Day, created to help increase public awareness of the many beneficial effects of aromas on all aspects of daily life.
Sense of Smell Day is recognized throughout educational institutes across America and is celebrated each year on the last Saturday in April. We observe this special day learning about how smell interacts with other senses (taste in particular), and how the sense of smell works.
In humans and animals, there is a connection between our senses of taste and smell. Our sense of smell alerts us to danger, enhances our alertness, helps us to sleep, improves our mood and much more.
The Sense of Smell Institute reports that special events and activities will be held at leading children’s and science museums across the country in celebration of the day. Sense of Smell Day is an exciting and interesting way for kids to learn about the wonders of scent.
So, for all of our readers who are learning how to sniff their way into a well rested, mentally alert good mood, Historic City News salutes you.
