Traffic Homicide Investigator J.D. “Mac” McGinnis reported to Historic City News reporters a local teenager has been flown to a Jacksonville hospital with life-threatening injuries received in an all terrain vehicle (ATV) collision.
Just after 9:00 p.m. last night, three teenage boys were riding their ATV northbound on Avenue C, near 5th Street, in St. Augustine. A 13 year-old passenger, who was riding on the exterior cargo rack of the 2008 Honda Recon ES ATV, reportedly fell to the pavement and suffered critical head and neck injuries.
The injured boy was taken by Trauma One to Shands Hospital Jacksonville.
No injuries were reported to the 14 year-old driver or other 14 year-old passenger; who was riding on the cargo rack of the 4-wheeler as well.
Names of all parties are being withheld due to their age and pending notification of the injured teen’s parents.
