Historic City News has observed as the ground area was laid out for a museum and exhibit center behind the Prince of Peace Church at the Mission of Nombre de Dios on San Marco Avenue.
The $900,000 center, with major funding from the Robert and Dr. JoAnn Crisp Ellert Foundation, is expected to be completed early next year.
The Catholic Museum will display artifacts and papers of the St. Augustine Diocese, some dating back to St. Augustine’s earliest years.
The Diocese is first out of the gate in exhibit center planning for our upcoming commemorations.
City 450 Director Dana Ste. Claire announced recently plans for an “Expo pavilion” to highlight our multicultural history.
