Former Mayor George Gardner wrote in today’s St. Augustine Report, “We had the opportunity years back to tour the “hidden” Lightner, the fourth floor, once quarters for hotel staff, today home for overflow of the massive Lightner collections.”
Gardner says it’s a tour not to be missed, and the Junior Service League of St. Augustine is making such a tour available as part of its Lightner East project to restore a room and many of the Lightner treasures.
“We found on our tour” said Gardner “the arrangement of rooms was as fascinating as their contents – we recall one room filled with only a salt and pepper collection.”
Just $20 gets you on the September 10 tour from 6 and 9 p.m., complete with light hors d’oeuvres catered by Café Alcazar and wine provided by Tim’s Wine Market.
Your $20 can be designated for October’s Black and White Ball King/Queen Candidate: Lynn Anderson, Pauline Cake, Christine Chapman, Lynda Kirker, Janeen Sara, Craig Colee, Bryan Fraser, George Gardner, and Danny Page.
RSVP by September 8 to www.jslofstaugustine.org.
