Lieutenant Jeremy Robshaw, St. Johns County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer, reported to Historic City News that firefighters received an E-911 call reporting a working structure fire in Hastings around 6:45 p.m. last night.
According to the incident report, the fire was called in by someone who spotted the smoke rising from the home. “The home was not occupied during the fire,” Robshaw told Historic City News. “No injuries were reported.”
The home, located on Morrison Road just south of State Road 207, was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived. “There was extensive damage,” Robshaw said.
Our area has experienced heavy lightning in recent weeks; two house fires occurred in St. Johns County and five lightning fires occurred within minutes of each other in Flagler County. “It has not been confirmed if the fire was started by a lightning strike.” There were no other reports of fires in St. Johns County on Friday evening.
