Yesterday, Lane Wright announced to Historic City News that Governor Scott has named Charles T. Corley as Secretary of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
Secretary Corley had been serving as the interim secretary at the department since June of 2010.
As Secretary of DOEA, Corley manages the Department’s activities and serves as an advocate for the issues and programs that affect Florida’s 4.45 million seniors.
“Secretary Corley has shown me he has what it takes to continue leading the
Department of Elder Affairs,” said Governor Scott. “He understands the importance of making sure our seniors have access to the services and information they need, while at the same time protecting the interests of the taxpayer.”
Corley’s career in the health and human services field spans more than 30 years. He has served in the public and private sectors as both a direct service provider and administrator.
Prior to his work directing the Department of Elder Affairs, he served the agency as a division director and bureau chief. From 1985 to 2000, he served at the Agency for Health Care Administration and its predecessor agency.
Previously in the private sector, Corley held various leadership roles in hospital administration across the state and served as a consultant for health care facilities.
