Adult Crochet Group
Tuesday, September 6 @ 6 pm – Adults and teens age 14 and older are invited to attend the Project Lap Blanket crochet group. We will crochet or knit blankets for cancer patients at area hospitals. All skill levels are welcome. Can’t attend? Pick up a pattern at the library, crochet in your spare time and drop it off. Drop off any yarn you’d like to donate during regular library hours.
Children’s Movie Matinee
Wednesday, September 7 @ 3 pm – It’s an early release day! Grab your friends and join us for a movie. Please call 904-827-6960 to find out what’s showing on the big screen. Snacks are provided; bring your own drinks.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
Saturday, September 10 @ 9:30 am-noon – The Friends of the Library will hold the September book sale. Books of all kinds will be on sale! In addition to books, other items such as DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and audio books will be available.
Computer Class: Library Databases: “Back-to-School Edition”
Saturday, September 10 @ 10:15 am – Doing online research doesn’t have to be hard. Come to this 45-minute session to learn about the library’s many databases. A one-stop-shop to quickly locate reliable full-text journal articles, encyclopedia entries, and e-Book resources. This session is geared for students ages 13+ and/or their parents or caregivers.
Computer Class: “iGoogle”
Saturday, September 10 @ 11 am – iGoogle allows you to create a personalized homepage and to keep all your Google stuff in one spot for easy access. You can access this homepage from any computer with internet access. You must have a free Google account prior to attending this class and able to remember your username and password! 9-11 Program
Saturday, September 10 @ 2 pm – To honor the tenth anniversary of 9-11, the library is posting a memorial wall listing the names of everyone lost in those attacks. We will also be screening the film of the true story of the heroic passengers of Flight 93 on September 11, 2001.
Genealogy Club
Saturday, September 10 @ 2 pm – The Genealogy Club will be discussing lineage societies at this meeting. If you’re a member of such a society, come and share your experiences with us! If you’ve been thinking of joining one, come learn about what kind of research you need to provide. We’re an informal group of individuals with varying experience; some started a few months ago and some have been doing this for 40 years! New faces are welcome! Tuesday, September 13 @ 2 pm – Find out how to stay safe online and protect your identity. The St. Johns County Crime Prevention Deputies are dedicated to the education of our citizens regarding fraud and scams. Thursday, September 15 @ 10:15 am – In this class, we talk about the finer points of conducting internet searches. We’ll discuss Boolean searching, subject directories, and how to evaluate websites. JEA Home Energy Audits for Families
Saturday, September 17 @ 10 am – Tired of telling the kids to turn off the lights? Ever wonder how much energy you use when you leave the computer on overnight? Come to our home energy audit program! The library has kits donated by JEA to take home and discover where your energy is going. Get the kids involved with this easy-to-use device that shows how much it costs to run their X-box! Wednesday, September 21 @ 3 pm – Teens and tweens, 5th grade and up are invited to participate in this patriotic blast from the past! This program will be an artistic adventure to celebrate International Day of Peace by tie-dyeing. We’ll provide the instructions and dye; participants need to bring an item to dye (t-shirt, bandana, pillow case, etc.).
