Stefanie Bernstein invites Historic City News readers to attend the Second Annual Hoots N’ Howls Pet Day on Saturday, October 22nd at the St. Augustine Events Field on West Castillo Drive.
Just back from performing in Las Vegas, extraordinary comic Johnny Mac will serve as emcee for this year’s “Hoots N’ Howls”.
Spend the day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with special guests “Cody” the ten-year-old Black Lab with the unique skill to detect termite infestations through his exceptional sense of smell and St. Johns County Sheriff’s Deputy and K9 Handler, Ezekiel Kelly, accompanied by his partner, K9 Kweli.
Come meet and pet Serafina — the great granddaughter of Secretariat; an American thoroughbred racehorse, that in 1973 became the first U.S. Triple Crown champion in twenty-five years, setting new race records that still stand today. Now a beautiful healthy horse and real crowd pleaser, when Serafina arrived at Diamonds in the Rough Farm in early 2010, she was just skin and bones.
Enjoy a day of musical entertainment featuring Jacksonville rock band Captain Hook, The Seaweed Band, from St. Augustine, the bouncy blues-folk style of Lonesome Bert & the Skinny Lizards and local classic rockers, Penguin Teeth.
Beneficiaries of this year’s fundraising event will be:
• Wags and Whiskers
• Diamonds in the Rough Farm
• Goliath and Bebe’s World
• H.A.W.K.E.
• S.P.I.N. (Special Pets In Need)
• Help Four Paws
• Island Feral Cats
• Cause For Paws
