Alpha Kappa Delta inaugural induction

Flagler College reported to Historic City News that on Thursday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m., Flagler College’s Nu chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society, will host its inaugural induction ceremonies.

The Alpha Kappa Delta inaugural induction is scheduled to be held in the Flagler Room at Flagler College.

Flagler’s chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta was founded by Dr. Melvin Barber and Dr. Casey Welch of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department. In addition to the induction of students into Alpha Kappa Delta, this event will feature a number of guest speakers including the President of Flagler College, William T. Abare, Jr.

Alpha Kappa Delta was founded in 1920 by University of Southern California sociologist Dr. Emory S. Bogardus for the purposes of stimulating scholarship and promoting the scientific study of society. Bogardus’ reason for establishing this organization was to provide a forum for student and faculty interchange. Alpha Kappa Delta has become an international organization dedicated to promoting, facilitating and recognizing academic scholarship.

Alpha Kappa Delta is an integral part of many sociology programs, and in the past eight decades, more than 80,000 scholars have been initiated into the society. More than 560 chapters have been chartered in the United States, Canada, China, Finland, the Philippines, Taiwan and Singapore.
