Donna Lueders reported to Historic City News that over 70 people came out to the King and Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village last week to participate in a charity golf tournament to benefit the St. Johns County Education Foundation.
Golfers could participate in a number of special contests; including longest drive and closest to the pin. Although no one made a hole-in-one, everyone was certainly trying — the prize was a brand new Nissan vehicle offered by the host dealership, Nissan of St. Augustine.
After the contestants completed their rounds, everyone gathered for the awards ceremony where dozens of sponsors donated gift certificates and prizes for the players.
Lueders, Executive Director of the Foundation, reported that she was presented with a $5,000 donation at the end of the night.
The St. Johns County Education Foundation is recognized as the direct support organization for the St. Johns County School District.
