Historic City News has received word that the two Palm Coast teenagers, who said they were kidnapped from The Hammock yesterday evening, have been located in the Orange Park area by Clay County sheriff’s deputies shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning.
An Amber Alert was issued around 8:00 p.m. for the two teenage girls who were reported as missing and possibly abducted from their home in The Hammock of Palm Coast around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office cancelled the Amber Alert once they were located.
Flagler Sheriff’s representative Debra Johnson told Historic City News that the evening’s events started around 7:00 p.m., when Allan Annis noticed his silver 2011 Volvo was missing from the parking lot of his home located at 200 Ocean Crest Drive.
His wife, Renee Annis, contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report the vehicle having been stolen; then sent a text message to her daughter, 17 year-old Danielle Annis, informing her of what had happened and instructing her to return home.
A second text was sent and neither text received a response.
About 10 minutes later, Danielle called her mother and said she was in the vehicle with a man — indicating that she, and her 15-year-old friend, Amanda Hunt, were abducted as they walked through an area parking lot.
The Amber Alert said Danielle Annis is 5 foot, 2 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing black nylon sweatpants with a white stripe down the side. Amanda Hunt was described to be 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 96 pounds. She was last seen wearing white denim short, a taupe colored shirt and possibly wearing gold colored sandals or black flip-flops.
Allan and Renee Annis last saw the girls when they left home to get the mail at about 6:30 p.m. Renee Annis told deputies that the mailbox key was on the same ring as the vehicle key.
The drama escalated around 11:07 p.m., when Orange Park Police located the unoccupied Volvo — parked on the side of the road with the parking lights on and the keys in the ignition.
Soon after 1:00 a.m. this morning, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a call from two men reporting that the girls knocked on their door. They said the juveniles told them that they had stolen their parent’s vehicle and needed, “a place to hang out”.
The girls were recovered, apparently unharmed, at 1:09 a.m. by Clay County Sheriff’s deputies; then were returned, safely, to Flagler County.
The incident is under review and charges may be pending.
