Historic City News has learned that just before noon on Saturday, Corporal John Sheets observed a suspicious blue Toyota, traveling west bound in the area of Evergreen and Masters Drive.
Sheets did a “wanted” check on the license plate number and discovered that Jacksonville authorities had reported the vehicle tag had been stolen.
A traffic stop was conducted on that vehicle.
The driver, 26 year-old Taniesha Smothers, stated that she borrowed the vehicle from her boyfriend.
Smothers was taken into custody and transported to the county jail where she was charged with grand theft of an automobile.
The owner of the vehicle was notified.
Smothers was released from jail on Monday after posting a $1500.00 bond.
