The St Johns County Sheriff’s Office traffic deputy that was involved in a collision while riding his police motorcycle during an escort last Saturday, is continuing to recover at a Jacksonville hospital, according to an update received by Historic City News today.
Deputy Greg Dubowsky has been upgraded to stable condition; however, he is expected to remain hospitalized for the next several weeks as he recovers from injuries sustained in the crash, and undergoes surgical procedures required to treat those injuries.
“It is projected that he will not be able to return to work for several months,” said Corporal Catherine Payne in an announcement this afternoon.
Dubowsky accompanied motorcycle units from both St Johns and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Offices escorting a motorcycle run to benefit “Rides for Smiles” — a charitable organization that provides medical treatment for children.
The ride began in Jacksonville that morning on a route to St Augustine and then back into Jacksonville.
Payne reported that numerous inquiries have been received from the community; asking about donations for the Dubowsky family. In response, an account, listed as the “Deputy Greg Dubowsky” account, has been established at Prosperity Bank.
