Vilano Beach Main Street and North Shores Improvement Association announced to Historic City News local reporters that dedication of a new public dock will be held on Saturday June 2, at 4:00 p.m.
The dedication ceremonies will be accompanied by music, vendors and dancing at the Vilano Beach Pier and Pavilion located at 260 Vilano Road and continuing until sunset.
The estimated $360,000 project is being funded through a Florida Inland Navigation District grant with matching funds from the Port and Waterway Authority.
According to published reports, boaters will be able to dock, free of charge, for four hours.
The goal is to provide transient accommodations for boaters who will dine, browse the shops, and stock up on groceries at the recently opened Publix supermarket and other businesses in the Vilano Town Center.
