St Johns County Fire Rescue reported to Historic City News reporters that they were dispatched to a two-vehicle auto accident at approximately 3:50 pm this afternoon.
The crash occurred on County Road 208, near the intersection with CR-13A, in St. John’s County. Firefighters arrived to find a head-on collision between a passenger car and a dump truck. There was heavy vehicle damage and the road was completely blocked.
The driver of the vehicle was pinned-in and had to be extricated by firefighters. The driver of the dump truck was uninjured, according to the incident report.
Emergency medical personnel transported the injured driver to Shands Hospital Jacksonville in critical condition, as a trauma alert.
St Johns County Fire Rescue dispatched one engine, one rescue, one heavy rescue squad, and a chief.
The Florida Highway Patrol and St Johns County Sheriff’s Office will be conduction the accident investigation.
