Truck overturns sending driver to hospital
St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesman Matthew Sara reported to Historic City News that units responded to a single-vehicle crash at approximately 2:10 p.m. today, in the southbound lane of Interstate 95; approximately 3 miles south of SR-206.
Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Neil P. Mariotti is conducting the investigation and reports that the driver, Haley Jones of Jacksonville, was traveling in the center lane, when the left-rear tire separated, causing her to lose control.
The vehicle, a 2004 Dodge Durango, sustained about $5000 in damage when it drove into the median and overturned; coming to rest on top of the guardrail.
“There was one patient trapped in the vehicle,” Sara said. “One engine, one rescue, and one heavy rescue squad were dispatched, along with a battalion chief.”
Three patients were involved in the one vehicle crash, Sara told reporters. Mariotti reports that alcohol was not a factor and the driver and passengers were wearing seat belts.
Haley Jones was transported to Flagler Hospital in serious but stable condition, via St Johns County Rescue, and two others were treated on scene by emergency medical personnel.
