Trooper JT Rountree reported to Historic City news that Saturday about 3:45 p.m., he was called to the scene of an overturned 1999 KIA Sportage with three occupants on Interstate 95 at the 320 Mile Marker in St Johns County.
Rountree said that the driver of the vehicle, 30 year-old Olga Maza, was traveling northbound on I-95 in the center lane when one of the tires blew out.
The driver attempted to enter the median to avoid traffic in the right hand lane when the vehicle began to overturn and collided with the guardrail. The vehicle came to rest on the passenger side; facing north in the median.
Maza, and her passenger, 38 year-old Michael Maza who both reside in Hollywood, Florida, received minor injuries and were transferred to Baptist South.
Another passenger, 65 year-old Caridad Maza, also of Hollywood, was treated at the scene, stabilized and transported with critical injuries to the trauma unit at Orange Park Medical Center.
The Sportage sustained about $ 7000 in damages in the crash.
Charges against the driver are pending the outcome of the investigation.
