Teenager critically injured on skateboard

St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to a skateboarding accident at approximately 5:00 p.m. this evening.

The accident took place at the skate park in Treaty Park off Wildwood Drive.

Upon arrival, paramedics began treating the patient and called a trauma alert.

The patient, who is a minor, was not wearing a helmet, according to the incident report.

The boy, whose name was not released, was transported by helicopter to Shands Hospital Jacksonville in critical condition.
