National Society of The Colonial Dames of America reported to Historic City News that the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council in Jacksonville will revisit 18th century life at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum this weekend.
Ximenez-Fatio House is one of the best preserved of the three dozen colonial buildings remaining in St. Augustine. Meticulous restoration and furnishings of period decorative arts and historical objects provide the setting for authentic portrayals of territorial life and early statehood in St. Augustine. The museum focuses on the property’s role as a boarding house, representing one of the few socially acceptable business ventures for a 19th century woman.
Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, Inc. includes approximately 25,448 girls and adults in 16 north Florida counties; from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean.
Saturday, March 27th, the young historic interpreters will be at their labors from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. carrying out the daily chores and character roles of the boarding house.
The historic museum grounds on Aviles Street are documented on St. Augustine’s original town plan of 1572.
