St. Johns County Sheriff David Shoar advised local reporters with Historic City News that he will be briefing members of the Sheriff’s Advisory Council at a reception for all district councils this Thursday evening.
The purpose of the council is to cement a cohesive partnership with the community and to share vital information in an open forum, foster a mutual understanding where citizen input is paramount in the implementation and effectiveness of Crime Prevention, and to demonstrate full accountability to the residents of St. Johns County.
The program, patterned after successful advisory councils in other communities, hopes to reduce the fear of crime in the county.
Sheriff Shoar will welcome all advisory council members and interested citizens. Refreshments will be served.
This reception is open to the public between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at is being held at the St. Johns County Agricultural Center located at 3125 Agricultural Center Drive off CR-208.
For additional information on the Sheriff’s Advisory Council, please contact Lt. Dan Chitwood (904) 810-6791. The Sheriff makes the final selection of each council’s members.
