Historic City News reporters have learned that the St. Johns County School District, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Johns County Tax Collector and St. Johns County Fire Rescue have joined together to deliver the “Party’s Over” reenactment for St. Johns County Students.
The program is an effort to prevent the loss of life or injury during this year’s high school prom and graduation season, and will be presented to the junior and senior classes of Pedro Menendez High School on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10:00AM in the morning. The program will be held in the stadium located at Pedro Menendez High School.
“Party’s Over” is a program that is presented across the nation to junior and senior level students prior to annual prom and graduation events. The program is a visual drama of sorts depicting an alcohol related accident that occurs at the conclusion of a high school party. Drama students from Menendez will depict the students involved in the accident, while local firefighters, law enforcement officers, judges and other first responders will act in the role they would normally serve in during and following a DUI related incident.
The program is highly emotional and is designed to quickly educate the students on the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving.
