St Johns County State Representative Ronald “Doc” Renuart, informed Historic City News this morning that House Speaker Will Weatherford has appointed him to serve as Chairman of the House Veterans and Military Affairs Subcommittee during the 2013-2014 legislative term.
Renuart, a Republican, whose District 17 office is located in Ponte Vedra Beach, is well suited for this appointment to the subcommittee that considers matters related to Florida’s community of military personnel and veterans; including oversight of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Military Affairs and the Florida National Guard.
“Having served in the Florida Army National Guard for 20 years, I am excited to take on this new role as Chairman and address legislation that will improve the quality of life of our veterans and military personnel,” Renuart told Historic City News.
As a Colonel in the Florida Army National Guard, Doc Renuart served three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In June 2010 he retired after 20 years of decorated service.
Renuart was also appointed Vice Chair of the K-12 Subcommittee and serves on the Health Innovation Subcommittee, Health and Human Services Committee and Government Operations Subcommittee.
