Health & Human Services Advisory Council
Four (4) Vacancies
Purpose of Committee: This Council evaluates human services programs in the community, assists in determining the effectiveness of programs, reduces duplication of services and assures the health and human services needs of the residents of St. Johns County are met. They review applications requesting county funding for programs that provide health, mental health, substance abuse and social services and submit recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.
Qualifications: Members must be a registered voter in St. Johns County. The members shall be two (2) professionals preferably from the disciplines of Health, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, or Social Services and two (2) at-large members, including but not limited to such compatible areas as business, banking and finance, education, law enforcement, religious community leaders, consumers and any other interested parties comprising the general public.
Meeting schedule: This Board meets on-call as needed during application review period and on the next to the last Thursday of each month at 4:30pm in the Mental Health Conference Room, 1955 US 1 South.

Recreation Advisory Board
Two (2) Vacancies
Purpose of Committee: An advisory committee that provides a sounding board for new ideas, assist in solving problems, act as liaison when called upon to other governmental bodies, represent the Recreation and Parks Department’s posture on sensitive issues in the public arena and to assist in the establishment and carrying out of goals and objectives and budget preparation to provide leisure time programs and facilities.
Qualifications: At-large vacancies as all five districts currently have representation.
Meeting schedule: This Board meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 3:00pm in the Board of County Commissioners Executive Board Room, 500 San Sebastian View.

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
Three (3) Vacancies
Purpose of Committee: An advisory committee that reviews established policies and procedures to recommend specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.
Qualifications: Seeking a citizen who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body making the appointment (aka: St. Johns County Resident), a citizen who represents employers within the jurisdiction, and a citizen who represents essential services personnel.
Meeting schedule: This Committee meets quarterly and on an as needed basis.
Application Submission Deadline: July 16, 2010.
