Historic City News has learned of two new resolutions being heard, on first reading, by the St Augustine City Commission at their next regular meeting on Monday evening, July 8, dealing with residential parking permit areas.
In order to reassign on-street parking spaces for the exclusive use of residential permit holders, the commission must make a finding of necessity before creating any such zone.
The resolutions proposed include (2013-20) San Salvador Street; between St George Street and Charlotte Street, and, (2013-21) Water Street; between Joiner Street and Mulberry Street within the City of St Augustine.
If approved, the resolutions will return for a public hearing and final action at a future city commission meeting.
If you plan to attend, the City Commission Meeting will be held on Monday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Alcazar Room of the City Hall Building located at 75 King Street in St Augustine. You can watch the meeting live on Comcast Government Television channel 3. New safety measures will require attendees to empty the contents of their pockets, subject their bags to search, and submit to an electronic frisk performed by uniformed police using handheld wands upon entry, or re-entry, to the meeting room. Allow sufficient additional time to accomplish this new safety measure.
