St Augustine attorney suspended for a year

The Florida Bar informed local Historic City News reporters that action has been taken against 52-year-old Marlene Garcia, who resides at 115B Flagler Boulevard in St Augustine, to suspend her from the practice of law for one year, effective immediately.

A Florida Supreme Court order, issued by the Court on June 27, invoked the disciplinary action against Garcia; who has been an attorney admitted to practice law in Florida since 1987.

Garcia was charged with possession of cocaine – a felony. She pled no contest to a lesser misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Four months later she was arrested and later pled no contest to a petit theft misdemeanor charge.
